The Man Behind Meghalaya Oxygen & Co.
Meghalaya Oxygen & Co. is one of the prominent suppliers and distributors of a wide range of industrial and medical gases.
Located in the pristine hill state of Meghalaya, the business has grown by leaps and bounds over a span of 30 years. MOC was established in 1970 by a hardworking, dynamic and upstanding man who came to Shillong in quest of a job.
The late Mr. Rabindra Chandra Paul's life story is an inspiring 'Rags to Riches' tale of a self-made businessman who rose from pauperism to affluence through sheer hard work and determination.
Mr. Paul was born into a poor family in Tezpur in Assam in 1942. His upbringing and schooling was done under strained circumstances. Poverty and isolation in society prevented him from continuing his further education. Thus, even before he reached the age of discretion, he left his home and moved to Shillong to try his fortune, which was then the capital of undivided Assam. His business acumen, sagacity, entrepreneurial skills, sheer tenacity, confidence and above all his honesty led him from a garage worker to the ownership of a multi-crore business in industrial and medical gases.
Today, the business has monopoly over its market and is a much sought-after and valued supplier and distributor of industrial and medical gases in its home state of Meghalaya and the entire north-eastern region.
Mr. Paul left for his heavenly abode in 2009 leaving behind a wife, two sons and daughters.
Presently, MOC is managed by a team of efficient and hardworking people including Mr. Paul's son and grandson.
